Hebden Bridge’s accountancy practise announce acquisition of bookkeeping business

Cresswells, the largest chartered accountants in Hebden Bridge, has announced the acquisition of a regional bookkeeping and payroll company.

Shortly after celebrating its 125th anniversary, Cresswells - founded in 1889 - acquired CBC Outsourcing, which was trading from the adjoining premise in Market Street.

Cresswells purchased CBC as part of its ongoing plans to expand in Calderdale, which includes moving to the office frontage as well as relocating Cresswells’ current first floor reception to street level, as the accountant firm’s brand takes control of all CBC services.

Furthermore, Cresswells began expanding its group support staff just last month with the appointment of Charlotte Gibbon, as office junior and Julie Noble, as secretary/administrator.

The firm is currently also looking to add an experienced accountant to the growing team, who are expected to move into the additional office space provided after the takeover.

All current CBC Outsourcing staff will remain at their current positions and the acquisition is also expected to provide them with further job opportunities and career development.

Partner Paul Vine said: “Over the past eighteen months we’ve experienced a huge increase in demand for accountancy services. The acquisition of CBC and their premises will provide Cresswells with a stronger high street presence and provide much needed office space for our expanding team.”

“CBC Outsourcing has a reputation built on trust and exceptional customer service and we’re delighted to be welcoming all their staff to the Cresswells fold”, he added.

In addition, Cresswells recently announced it had signed a deal to sponsor the Street Sundae event at this year’s Hebden Bridge Arts Festival. The practice plans to open a satellite office in Halifax later this year.
