GPO expands its space in Greater Manchester

GPO, the British designer and maker of retro telephones, radios and record players has proved it’s very much in fashion as it expands with a new warehouse and showroom in Greater Manchester.

GPO, along with parent company ProtelX, has taken 8,084 square feet at Bury’s Park 17 as it continues to expand its product lines and secures spots with new stockists, especially record stores.

The extended product lines have seen GPO’s turnover grow to £2.4million in the last financial year, expected to reach £3million in the next 12 months.

The move sees GPO’s staff grow to 8, both full-time and part-time with new full-time posts managing the warehouse with more hires planned as the sales team settles into their new space.

The sales team, along with management and new warehouse staff, are moving into the newly refurbished and renovated premises in mid to late March.

Alongside the warehouse and management offices, GPO is designing and installing a new showroom to allow prospective clients and stockists to view both new and existing products.

Co-founder of GPO, Gary Basso said: “There’s a growing confidence in retail. Our customers range from independent stockists right up to high street giants.

“As we’ve designed and manufactured more products, we’ve seen a need to cut our supply chain and ensure we’re able to get products out to stores much quicker.”

“The vinyl revival has really revolutionised our business. It now covers around 50% of everything we do and in the last 18 months we’ve been building up relationships with independent record stores who want to diversify their own offer from just records to record players”.
