Comedian Jason Manford considering offer for popular Newcastle comedy club
Comedian Jason Manford, best known for his roles on comedy panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats, has hinted that his comedy label will step in and save Newcastle-based Hyena Comedy Club from permanent closure.
This afternoon Manford posted on Facebook saying: “Had a call from a friend who runs the Hyena Comedy Club in Newcastle.
“Their building’s landlord is changing the use and heading in a different direction. It’s such a long running successful comedy club do it’s a shame (I remember playing it with Michael McIntyre 12 years ago!).
“My question to the Geordies is, if Manford’s Comedy Club steps in and helps save this Newcastle institution, will you support us? We’ll keep the quality of comedy & guarantee a cracking night of entertainment.”
Manford ended the post with a call to action aiming for feedback from the Newcastle public, “Let us know at info@manfordscomedyclub.com. If enough people want it then we will definitely come take over!”
With over 3000 likes and 600 shares in the two hours since Manford made the post, the comedian’s proposal has been exceptionally well received.
