QPR will not be barred Championship despite alleged Football League breaches
Queens Park Rangers will not be banned from the Championship despite facing accusations of breaching Football League regulations.
Allegedly, the club, which was recently relegated from the Premier League after just one season back on top, spent more on salaries than the Football League allowed two seasons ago.
Earlier this year QPR reported a reduced annual loss of £9.8m despite the club’s misfortune on the pitch.
If the Football League refuses to find the loans acceptable under its Financial Fair Play rules, QPR could be fined by up to £58m, according to BBC News.
In 2013-14, Championship clubs were permitted losses of £8m (£5m funded by shareholders) in 2013-14, while clubs promoted to the Premier League who exceeded those losses are subject to a fine.
The ‘ongoing process’ may not be resolved before the new season kicks off on 8 August.
