Agency MD scoops Sexy Networker award!
Andrew Batty, managing director of Leeds-based Creative Marketing Services, scooped one of the more unusual and unlikely prizes at the inaugural City of Leeds Business Awards when he won Sexy Male Networker of the Year.
Keith Madeley - better known to many as ‘Mr Yorkshire’ - presented Andrew with the award in front of a packed business audience at Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road, as part of an event hosted by Downtown Leeds in Business to celebrate entrepreneurs, businesses, business owners, employees and decision makers from across the Leeds region. Having founded the city’s longest established marketing agency, now in its 33rd year, Andrew is a very well-known face in the Leeds networking scene and his company handles marketing campaigns for a diverse range of well-known brands including SMEs, plcs, public and third sector organisations. Andrew’s widespread familiarity – together with an undeniable presence of animal magnetism - appears to have helped his cause in attracting votes from the city’s business community.
Commenting on his award, Andrew said: “This is my first award with sexy in the title and I intend to make the most of it! I’ve never laid claim to such a description but I would certainly admit to being a prolific networker. It’s a great honour to get recognition from one’s peers and I’d like to thank everyone who voted. I’ll have to work hard to defend my title at next year’s awards!”
The City of Leeds Business Awards was attended by 200 of the city’s most influential business leaders. Introduced by Leeds City Council Chief Executive Tom Riordan and presented by Calendar’s Christine Talbot, the event saw successful businesses and business figures win awards in a wide range of categories, including Business of the Year and Contribution to Leeds. Kenny Thompson of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ fame provided a memorable entertainment set to bring the evening to an exciting climax.
