hlw Keeble Hawson nominated for Sheffield City Region Dealmakers Awards

hlw Keeble Hawson’s reputation as a leading dealmaker has been reinforced by the firm being shortlisted for two awards at the Insider’s Sheffield City Region Dealmakers Awards.

Four deals in which the firm has acted are also in the final line up of the high profile accolades where nominees are voted for by their peers and judges assess the calibre of the deals and select the winners from the region’s top law firms, accountants and banks who are competing for ten awards.

A finalist in the Corporate Law Firm of the Year category, managing partner Paul Trudgill, who was named Corporate Lawyer of the Year in the same awards in 2014, is shortlisted for this year’s Dealmaker of the Year category.

Two of the deals in which the firm acted have been nominated in the Mid-Market Deal of the Year (sub £5m). hlw Keeble Hawson advised Horbury Group, a specialist interiors subcontractor, on a £2.5m investment from the Business Growth Fund and, in the second deal, acted for the senior management team at Sheffield based Ekspan Limited in an MBO of the award-winning, structural engineering specialist.

In the Deal of the Year (£5m+) another two transactions in which the firm represented clients have been shorlisted – the Purex International MBO which saw hlw Keeble Hawson act for the directors in their purchase of the Rotherham based fume extractor manufacturer – and long-standing client Pressure Technologies for its £10.3m acquisition of Quadscot Holdings.

Described by Legal 500 as “aware of the key issues and drivers” in commercial deals, Paul Trudgill says: “We continue to witness a substantial year-on-year increase in the number of transactions the firm is completing across wide ranging sectors and it is really pleasing that the depth and breadth of our expertise in the transaction market has been recognised by our nominations.”

The winners will be announced at the Mercure St Paul’s hotel in Sheffield on 18 June 2015.
