Affordable housing developer shows commitment to Crawley
A Crawley-based developer of an affordable housing scheme on Brighton Road have signed the Developer and Partner Charter to show their commitment to the town.
Stonewater, one of Crawley Borough Council’s current developer partners, will provide 48 homes and two commercial units at the new Imperial Mews affordable housing development in Brighton Road, Crawley.
Signed by Councillor Stephen Joyce, Deputy Leader of Crawley Borough Council, and Richard Stevenson, Executive Director for Development at Stonewater, the charter’s purpose is to encourage developers, their contractors and council partners to make the most of all available opportunities for local people and businesses.
The £6.6m scheme is set to create a range of 43 one and two bedroom flats for affordable rent and five two-bedroom houses available e for shared ownership.
Once the charter is signed, developers and partners will need to demonstrate their willingness to employ local people, create local supplier opportunities and contribute to raising skills for people in the area.
Richard Stevenson, executive director for development at Stonewater, said: “We are delighted to have an opportunity to actively participate in Crawley’s home building programme and even more pleased that we can be part of enabling people to move into the area. We very much value this relationship and look forward to working much more with Crawley in the future
Councillor Stephen Joyce added: “The council is delighted to welcome Stonewater as an active development partner in the provision of affordable housing in Crawley, and we are encouraged by their commitment to deliver a challenging scheme of this scale.
“We are particularly pleased with Stonewater’s determination to provide much needed rental accommodation in the borough and we certainly look forward to working-up future schemes together.”
