Insurance brokers aim for growth after York relocation
A team of insurance brokers are relocating to York this week in hopes of spearheading growth within an established accountancy firm.
JMG Townends insurance brokers was formed from a joint venture between Townends Chartered Accountants and insurance broker JM Glendinning.
Previously based at the JM Glendinning headquarters in Guiseley since the venture was launched 12 months ago, the JMG Townends team is now moving to york to support Townends Accountants’ clients and help facilitate plans to double the size of the insurance business over the next two years.
JMG Townends’ managing director Adam Verney will be joined in York by director David Fryer. Both are experienced insurance brokers, with a focus on looking after the needs of owner managed businesses to help them make sure their assets and income are protected.
Adam said: “Becoming part of an established and well respected insurance group that is also one of the UK’s Top 100 brokers enhances our credibility and will help us achieve our ambitious growth plans.”
Nick Houghton, JM Glendinning managing director, added, “The joint venture was established because we saw reciprocal growth opportunities with a firm we knew and respected.
“The broking business was originally part of Townends Accountants, one of the largest and most established independent accountancy firms in Yorkshire. Now, with JM Glendinning as its joint venture partner, the business has wider access to insurers and greater buying power to source competitive insurance products and services for its customers. And by relocating the team to the Townends’ York office, they will be well placed to support Townends’ accountancy clients, too.”
The Townends Accountants York office is based on Heslington Lane in Fulford.
