Ascribe becomes EMIS Health

Bolton-based healthcare technology business Ascribe will from today be known as EMIS Health.

It follows a move by owner EMIS Group – the UK leader in connected healthcare software and services – to rebrand all of its healthcare software businesses under a single name.

From today, EMIS Health will become the unifying brand name for:

• EMIS – the UK market leader in primary care software and services (53% share of UK GP market) with a growing presence in community, child and mental health.
• Rx Systems – the single most widely used dispensary management system in community pharmacy (36% UK market share).
• Ascribe and Indigo 4 – providing a wide range of services across secondary care (systems used in 81% of NHS Acute Trusts).
• Digital Healthcare – the leading UK provider of software and services to support diabetic eye screening (81% English market share).

The move emphasises EMIS Health’s unique ability to join up healthcare technology and patient records across every major UK care setting – from high street pharmacies to GP surgeries, community services, A&E departments and specialist care.

Ascribe became part of EMIS Group in September 2013. In March 2015, Duane Lawrence – a respected IT executive with 25 years’ international experience – joined as Managing Director.

He said: “The change of name underlines the exciting opportunity that lies ahead of us – to join up our technologies and services to help the NHS to work more efficiently, and ultimately to deliver better patient care.”

EMIS Group Chief Executive Chris Spencer said: “The launch of EMIS Health signals a new era in the evolution of our healthcare software business.
