HTA appointed to market 4.57 acre Birtley Co-operative site
The Co-operative has appointed industrial property firm HTA Real Estate to market 4.57 acres of land at the Drum Industrial Estate, in Birtley, which includes Parcelforce, Coveris and Rettig amongst its major occupiers.
The Newcastle-based company are seeking offers in excess of £690k for the site, which is expected to attract interest from companies looking to create jobs in the region whilst being restricted by a shortage of suitable property.
The marketing of this plot by HTA comes after they recently let the largest speculative industrial building ever to be constructed in the region, on the same Drum Industrial Estate.
The property, which includes over 252,000 sq. ft. of warehousing, 11,000 sq. ft. of office and extensive yard space was sold to Coveris Group thus showing the continuing pattern of businesses looking for large shed space in the area.
The Co-operative, which trades from over 6,660 properties nationwide, moved into purpose built premises totalling 271,000 sq. ft. on the same estate in 2008.
Director of HTA Russell Taylor said: “Due to the shortage in the North East of suitable modern industrial property, this would be a great building opportunity for developers or owner occupiers.:
The site at the established distribution location close to junction 63 of the A1 has frontage to Drum Road, providing access to the region’s main conurbations.
He added: “This is great chance for a developer to ‘steal a march’ in the region’s industrial development market and to give manufacturing and distribution companies a chance to create a sustainable future in quality modern premises.
