David Wilson Homes Southern wins national housebuilding awards

SITE managers working for local housebuilder David Wilson Homes Southern have scooped two prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.

Barry McGrath who works at Orchard Gate in Kingston Bagpuize and Tony Austin who is site manager at Riverdown Park in Salisbury gained official recognition for the excellence in which they run their developments with a Pride in the Job Quality Award.

The Pride in the Job Quality Award is the only UK-wide competition dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in house-building. It has been instrumental in driving up the quality of new homes for 35 years.

The awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body National House-Building Council (NHBC) carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

Almost 15,000 site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.

The two winners were joined by site managers working for Barratt Group, which includes David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes, across the UK, which have scooped more than 80 awards for quality workmanship – the highest number in the industry. The site managers will now go forward to the final round of the competition which will select the best site manager in Britain
