Taste of University Life is a Success
Laisterdyke Business and Enterprise College students sample university life at the University of Hull during a summer school programme to introduce them to all that university life and study can offer.
Five year 11 students qualified for the University’s summer school, the theme of which was Murder Mystery and Suspense, and involved students taking part in a number of subject tasters drawn from the following areas: Medicine, Psychology, Criminology, Forensic Science, Computer Science, and Languages.
Jen McIntosh, Laisterdyke and Enterprise College Principal says: “It is important our students fulfil their potential and reach their own personal goals. Attending summer school has helped them learn more about university life and whether it’s for them. For Abbas Saeed, one of the five students who attended, he enjoyed the experience that much he now wants to attend the University of Hull!”
Jordan Milnes Schools and Colleges Liaison Service at the University of Hull says: “The students who attended Summer School from Laisterdyke have been a pleasure to work with throughout the week and you should be proud of your students.”
The aim of the summer school is to help all students, but particularly those from families with little experience of university, benefit from the broad programme to discover what happens at the university, experience new study areas, and be reassured that they will cope academically, socially and financially.
