Oldham joinery workshop to make £125k investment

Fit-out and refurbishment contractor Medlock FRB is set to invest £125k to grow its joinery workshop.

The expansion will give the Oldham-based company more manufacturing space, as well as allowing it to purchase more machinery to deal with an increasing number of orders.

The workshop reported sales of £1.35m last year, when Medlock FRB completed a record 90 projects. In 2015, the company is aiming for workshop revenues of £1.7m.

Medlock FRB’s managing director, Andy Dunster, commented: “The workshop is the jewel in Medlock’s crown and underlines our commitment to bespoke manufacturing in the North West.

“We are confident that this expansion will provide an excellent return on our investment in the facility, by enabling us to improve the service we provide to our growing customer base.”

He added: “At a time when leisure sector investment is gathering pace in the region, this expansion will ensure our facilities and service levels remain ahead of the field.”

The facility manufactures serving counters, bars, reception desks, staircases and decorative screens, amongst other fixtures and fittings, with products made from such materials as sustainably-sourced timber, glass and metal.

At present, the workshop occupies 20,000 sq ft of space and employs almost a third of the company’s 62 members of staff.

The investment news follows record annual revenues for the company. Medlock FRB’s turnover last year increased by 69% to £18.54m. The business is now in line to top £20m this year.
