Training Makes All The Difference

Merco’s summer is already off to a very good start following the acquisition of a new cleaning contract. The good news doesn’t stop there either! Merco has also able to demonstrate to our new client that offering staff the right training can make all the difference to the quality of work delivered.

Over the last few weeks, the Merco cleaning team in Manchester has been busy getting started on work at a boys’ grammar school local to Salford. Previously, the school had found themselves unhappy with the cleaning arrangements already in place, with a lower than expected level of quality present. Once work commenced, Merco’s first task was to address the skills gap and work ethic of the existing staff by introducing a new training regime.

In order to transform the cleaning service on offer to the school, the Merco team worked diligently to bring every individual member of the existing cleaning staff up to the same high level of quality and enthusiasm, instilling in them the skills, knowledge and values we hold dear to us. Cleaning staff at the school are now benefiting from regular training, close monitoring, and are being held accountable for their work – a far cry from the previously unstructured work environment.

This new training regime and cleaning structure has also enabled Merco to add an increasing amount of value to our offering, by ensuring that every moment that our team is working is well spent on delivering high quality work. In essence, our client is now receiving an improved and more thorough service without seeing any increase in cost from before contracting Merco. Our onsite team members pride themselves on this additional value and help to make every penny count.

Following Merco’s intervention, the results have been noted as across the board. Staff members are able to work with greater confidence, using the skills imparted on them, and the new, more structured approach has already allowed them to flourish. The school has also undertaken a notable transformation of its own, becoming the clean, welcoming learning environment the pupils need – and deserve – in order to make the most of their education.

This just goes to show that a little bit of the right training goes a long way and we look forward to maintaining a long-standing relationship with the school.
