West Yorkshire Police award Esh Group £10m contract
West Yorkshire police has awarded Esh Facilities with a major multi-million pound contract.
Esh Facilities won a three year contract to provide planned maintenance and reactive repairs to West Yorkshire Police. The deal could potentially be extended a further two years and is worth up to £10m.
Part of the Esh Group, Esh Facilities, will provide 24/7, 365 days a year support to the West Yorkshire Police Estate.
Operating over 100 buildings spread across a physical area of 780 square miles, West Yorkshire Police’s properties range from offices to specialist communication rooms, custody suites and laboratories.
The contract includes minor works, gas servicing, mechanical and electrical services, air conditioning and reactive repairs. South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Humberside Police can also access the contract by agreement with the West Yorkshire force.
Charlene Howes, Head of Maintenance for West Yorkshire Police, said: “We are the fourth largest Police Force in the country with around 8,200 officers and staff. It was important to find a facilities management partner with the scale to support us, and that shared our robust approach to health and safety. Over the past 3 years the Force has reduced our planned preventative and reactive maintenance expenditure by over 35% on our retained estate whilst maintaining the functionality of our buildings and meeting our statutory responsibilities. Following a thorough tender process we are confident this new contract will maintain high levels of service and financial efficiency.”
Stephen Leadbitter, Divisional Director at Esh Group said: “This is a prestigious contract that reflects the breadth of our abilities and supports our continued expansion in the region. The win follows a rigorous tendering process that recognised our robust approach to maintaining quality.”
Esh Group, the construction and building services firm, has shown strong growth with revenue rising 43% to £277m.
With expansion coming from the social housing, civils and commercial build sectors, Esh Group recently completed a major project for Japanese precision engineering firm Nikken Kosakusho Europe Ltd on Rotherham’s Advanced Manufacturing Park, an 80,000 sq ft warehouse at Logic Leeds and Muse Developments’ flagship 110-acre manufacturing and distribution development in the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone.
The company has recently expanded its Yorkshire office at Thorpe Park in Leeds and is seeking an operational depot in West Yorkshire.
