British Mountaineering Council in Didsbury seeks GB team sponsor
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC), which is based in Greater Manchester, is looking for a headline sponsor for the GB Climbing Team as it prepares upcoming UK and international events.
The Didsbury-based BMC, which manages the climbing team, wants to secure a £600k sponsorship deal spanning three years, with the funds paying for training, support and travel to climbing events around the world.
Rob Adie, the BMC’s competitions officer, said: “The GB Climbing Team has gone from strength to strength over the past five years and the sport has literally exploded into one of the fast growing amongst [those who are] 18 - 34 years old.
“The three-year headline sponsorship deal is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a brand/company to get involved with a sport that is growing across both the domestic and international stage.”
Such a deal would see the sponsor’s name and brand featured on the team’s kit, social networks, media releases and websites.
Proponents of climbing are hoping the sport will be included in the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. With major climbing events streamed live online, research has shown that 57% of the sport’s British audience falls into the 18 to 34 age bracket.
