Boroughbridge Nursery bowled over with special Ashes Day success
Children at Happy Jays Boroughbridge nursery have been bowled over with the success of a special day to mark The Ashes first test between England and Australia.
Some nursery staff and children dressed up in cricket whites, others donned red and blue to cheer on the England team - and some supported Australia attired in green.
Dressed in appropriate cricket safety gear, the children were taught the basics of how to play the game to mark the occasion. Pre-school practitioner Ben Harden who organised the event said: “Staff and children had a brilliant day and the children enjoyed learning cricket and watching it live on TV to capture the atmosphere. Afterwards we all savoured a traditional cricket tea of cucumber sandwiches and Victoria sponge.”
Tony Gernon, MD of Happy Jays, commented: “Special days like these are intended to be both educational and enjoyable for the children. They enable our team to engage with the children on a popular topic which the children can then share with their families at home.”
Boroughbridge nursery, one of the Happy Jays group of private nurseries across Yorkshire, frequently hosts special days which include a recent Glastonbury Day to celebrate the start of the festival season.
