Bury workshop set for expansion in seven-figure investment plan
Heat treatment and surface engineering organisation Wallwork Group will soon commision a new brazing workshop at its facility in Bury.
The move will represent significant growth in the site’s plant capacity. Wallwork Group, which has three manufacturing centres across the UK, is investing almost £2m to enhance production capabilities, improve research and development and strengthen the company’s position in the marketplace.
Peter Cookson, who has more than 20 years’ experience in vacuum brazing, has joined Wallwork Group to lead the expansion programme.
He commented: “These are exciting times. To capture a larger slice of the premium vacuum brazing market in aerospace, motorsport, scientific equipment and oil and gas industries, Wallwork directors have sanctioned a major investment programme in facilities, specialised equipment, bespoke jigs and tooling.”
Now, the firm believes that independent certification will help facilitate success. While the company has already gained the approval of aerospace accreditation body Nadcap for heat treatment at its Bury site, Wallwork plans to seek Nadcap approval for vacuum brazing and heat treatment at its Cambridge facility.
The director of the Bury site, Ian Griffin, said: “Peter adds a new depth of expertise to what is already a well-established and highly regarded department.
“We are confident that with the expanded and upgraded facilities we will give an exceptional level of service to our customers from prototype and development work through to volume processing, all under stringent quality control and backed by our nationwide commitment to rapid order turnaround.”
