Crewe gymnastics facility meets international standards following NatWest support

A Cheshire gymnastics facility has become a centre for international competitions after securing funding from NatWest.

Crewe and Nantwich Gymnastic and Communities Activities Centre, located in Crewe, used the finance to carry out refurbishment work that included sinking its main landing pit and taking out a roof beam. The modifications will allow users to practise high level vault and tumble routines, bringing the facility up to current competition standards.

Stuart Deeley, chair of the facility’s management committee, commented: “The centre plays an important part in gymnastics at a national level while also being an important part of the Crewe community. We have a high standard of gymnasts who train at the centre so the modifications will allow for them to compete at home against international competitors.

“As the centre has a team of committed, long service employees who are assisted by volunteers both in coaching and administration, we can keep training costs down and allow for as many people as possible to use the centre.”

Stuart added: “We have a long history with NatWest which has provided us with the flexible funding solutions we have needed to continue delivering our services to athletes of all ages.”

The centre, which is also known locally as Camm Street Gym, was founded in 1981 and today caters for over 500 athletes.

Johanna Holehouse, a relationship manager with NatWest, said: “I was delighted to support Camm Street Gym on its refurbishment project. It’s a wonderful centre which offers athletes of all ages and abilities a place to train and develop, and I wish the centre every success for the future.”
