Go North East embarks on major recruitment drive
Go North East, the North East’s largest bus company, has launched a campaign to recruit bus drivers to operate a fleet of over 650 buses.
The firm is giving candidates the opportunity to speak with other bus drivers at an event in Gateshead.
The bus operator is hoping hundreds of career hopefuls will attend its event at the Metro Centre Coach Park on Sunday 23 August between 9am and 2pm.
Go North East says no professional driving experience is needed, only a a clean driving licence that’s been held for at least 12 months. The company also provides free training to gain a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence.
Edwina Little, from Prudhoe, attended a similar recruitment event at the Stadium of Light recently and has now been at the company for 2 months.
Edwina said: “It’s a really good job. There’s regular hours, a pension, the training’s good and you know what you’re doing in advance.
“My colleagues are very supportive; it’s a good team atmosphere. There’s not a day goes by when they’re not checking to see if I’m okay. If there’s anything you’re not sure about, all you have to do is ask.”
