The CE Mark - What does it mean?
One thing that you should definitely look for when purchasing electrical equipment for your business, is the ‘CE’ mark. The CE actually stands for “Conformite Europeene”, and is found on domestic and business electrical equipment and appliances that correspond with an EU directive regarding ‘Electro Magnetic Compatibility’. The CE mark indicates that the device should work as intended, without interfering with other electrical devices - something that could be a nuisance, or potentially fatal if working with industrial electrical equipment. MCS Test Equipment have created an interesting infographic which provides more information on the topic; and emphasises the importance of looking for the CE mark whenever purchasing electrical goods. Keep in mind of course, that it is also important to consider several other things whenever buying electrical equipment, such as the length of warranty and the reputation of the firm you are purchasing from.
