North East BIC tenant secures Dalton Park commission
A North East manufacturing company has been commissioned to build a creative new feature for Dalton Park Shopping Centre.
Davison and Woods were approached by Independent Events Ltd to create the feature after being recommended by another organisation.
With an established creative and craft background spanning over 23 years, Davison and Woods came up with a design and the materials to give it longevity.
The installation takes the form of a giant wooden shopping bag to be placed in the County Durham shopping park.
Leslie Davison and Terry Woods were one of the first tenants to move into the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) some 21 years ago and in that time have amassed clients all over the world such as Germany, America and Saudi Arabia to name but a few.
Leslie said:“We came up with how the bag should look and then using our current suppliers sourced the right materials ensuring it would withstand the elements.
“We used a modified timber for the construction which is not only environmentally friendly but extremely durable.
“Although the bag was initially commissioned to be used as a one off, we have built it from materials that can last up to 25 years meaning the bag can be reused for other seasonal events.”
