Chinese firm buys Reuters building in Canary Wharf
HNA Group has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary HNA Investment Holding has acquired a building at 30 South Colonnade in London’s Canary Wharf from KanAm Grund Group, a German real estate investment fund.
The Chinese company said the deal was signed and contracts were exchanged today at 40 Bank Street in Canary Wharf, London, marketing the firm’s first major acquisition in the capital.
Known at the Reuters Building, 30 South Colonnade extends over 10 stories, with a total area of 305,600 square feet and is the European headquarters for news agency Thomson Reuters.
In a statement, HNA Group said: “As the largest economic center of Europe, London is recognized as the springboard for entering the European market,”
Founded in 1993, HNA Group is a Chinese conglomerate encompassing core divisions of aviation, holdings, capital, tourism and logistics.
