New Amazon centre to create 300 Doncaster jobs
Amazon is set to create 300 new jobs over the next three years with the opening of a second warehouse in Doncaster.
The online retail giant will begin taking orders from the new 250,000 sq ft ‘fulfilment centre’ as early as this autumn.
Amazon has confirmed that the new site is on Water Vole Way, only a stone’s throw away from its current warehouse on Balby Carr Bank, which opened in 2010.
The company already operates out of eight fulfilment centres in the UK, which are located in Doncaster, Dunfermline, Gourock, Hemel Hempstead, Marston Gate, Peterborough, Rugeley and Swansea Bay.
Approximately over 7,000 people are employed throughout these centres.
John Tagawa, vice president of operations for Amazon UK, said: “Our existing Doncaster team has done an exceptional job of delivering a first-rate level of service for our customers and we are delighted to open another site which will further draw upon the strong pool of talent in the area.
“We will continue to create new sites, more jobs and provide a range of benefits for our employees.”
