Law firm’s pro bono commitment clocks up 100 hours in four months
Solicitors from hlw Keeble Hawson’s private client team have delivered over 100 hours of pro bono support to make a difference to charities across South Yorkshire over the past four months.
As one of the region’s largest law firms with offices in Sheffield, Leeds and Doncaster, the practice has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, with team members frequently taking part in fundraising events and supporting local organisations including the Cathedral Archer Project, Mencap and RSPCA Sheffield.
Employees also add value and expertise in trustee positions - managing partner Paul Trudgill is a trustee of AGE UK Sheffield where employees provide bi-monthly free legal advice on issues including will drafting, Lasting Powers of Attorney and probates.
For the last three decades partner George Connell has been the law clerk of the Sheffield Town Trust which grants around £400,000 annually to local charitable and public causes. Michele Todd, also a partner, is a trustee at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Taptonholme Residential Care Home - and partner Janet Baker is on the Board of Trustees at RSPCA Sheffield.
Said Michele Todd: “The 100 hours milestone demonstrates our deep rooted ethos of giving back to our local communicates and reinforces that we take our corporate responsibility very seriously. It’s tremendous that an increasing number of employees are taking on trustee positions and helping to further enhance corporate governance for the wealth of worthy charities and organisations that we work with.”
