Manufacturing Talk
THE challenges facing manufacturing firms are to be highlighted by a man at the helm of a global firm.
Des Young, Service Director of Asset Services at Siemens, is to speak about manufacturing problems locally, nationally, and throughout the world.
Mr Young has been confirmed as guest at this months’s Advanced Manufacturing Forum (AMF) event, where he will speak to business leaders in the region about the trials and tribulations of working and succeeding in the sector.
Attendees will also hear updates from Mr Young on the latest at Siemens, as production of high-tech electrical components and assemblies for new Thameslink trains is now well underway.
His speech will be followed by recent additions to AMF’s membership - Paul Sibbald, Value Stream Manager from filtration and separation company Parker domnick hunter; and other guests.
Ian Fawdon, Chairman of the AMF, said: “Des has kindly agreed to talk at AMF’s September meeting about the challenges that face manufacturers locally, nationally, and globally.
“It is a topic that many of the AMF members will be aware of and be interested in.
“We look forward to welcoming him and hearing what he has to say.”
The ‘Manufacturing Challenges’ event is being held on Tuesday, September 15, at AMF’s base at One Trinity Green, Eldon Street, South Shields, NE331SA.
It follows August’s successful talk which saw the BBC’s Steph McGovern speak about apprenticeships.
Ian added: “The regular events are a great opportunity to hear about current issues, and also hear about and benchmark with other manufacturers.”
