Advanced Business Solutions (PS & E) appoints MD
Advanced Business Solutions (Public Sector & Enterprise) today announces the appointment of new Managing Director, Nick Wilson. He will move from business solutions and outsourcing provider, Capita, to join Advanced on Monday, October 12.
Wilson will succeed Dean Dickinson, who led the impressive growth of the Public Sector & Enterprise division, following the acquisition of COA Solutions in 2010.
Wilson joins Advanced with 20 years’ management experience, where he has led the delivery of complex operational programmes and the transformation and growth of IT businesses with a particular focus on the public sector.
He will move from his role as Managing Director of Public Sector & Health in Capita IT Enterprise Services, where he drove a £90 million turnover business, overseeing 400 staff. Wilson’s more recent focus was business development and growth, and securing new business opportunities across the public, private and healthcare sectors.
Prior to this, Wilson served as Director of Government, Space and Defence Outsourcing at CGI Group, the fifth largest independent information technology and business process services firm in the world. Here, he steered a £100m per annum business for UK outsourcing services and scooped excellence awards for healthcare IT development campaigns. Some of his clients included: University College Hospitals NHS Trust, British Council, Ofsted and Defence Medical Services.
He began his career with management roles at British Airways and Deloitte and spent four years as Client Partner for BT Health. This included running the BT Acute Health Business, managing 500 staff members and generating over £200 million turnover.
Wilson who is passionate about nurturing and developing talent, sees Advanced as a British IT success story, with a base for significant expansion and growth.
He says, “Advanced offers an impressive breadth of solutions, with a strong managed services capability. So, there is a robust platform to expand much further, which is one of the reasons I am looking forward to joining the Group.
“The public sector, in particular, is under more pressure than ever before to drive efficiencies, and is increasingly looking to work with agile software providers such as Advanced. My role will be to continue to deliver innovative and high quality solutions to enable these organisations to improve the services they deliver to citizens while saving money at the same time.”
Gordon Wilson, CEO, Advanced Computer Software Group Ltd says, “We are looking forward to welcoming Nick to the Group. He is a strategic and resourceful director with extensive experience of delivering strong financial performance and will play a key role on the Senior Management team.
“Advanced Business Solutions has an impressive and long standing track record and with Nick at the helm, I am confident that this pattern of success will continue.”
Advanced Business Solutions is a division of Advanced Computer Software Group Limited, a leading supplier of software and IT services to the health, care and business services sectors. One in four local authorities uses Advanced’s finance software.
