Local entrepreneur reaches new heights for Manchester charity
Manchester business man has gone to great heights to raise money in aid of Survivors Manchester by recently completing the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Tom Leavesley is an entrepreneur from Manchester and is co-founder of The People Experts, which develops and manages recruitment for organisations across the UK.
He successfully raised nearly £6,000 for Survivors Manchester; a charity that supports men and boys like Tom that have survived sexual abuse, sexual violence and exploitation in the Greater Manchester area.
Commenting on the challenge, Tom said: “I have seen first-hand the fantastic support that Survivors Manchester provides to a growing number of males like me in the Greater Manchester area as well as their national media campaigns such as #BreakTheSilence.
“So many kind people have come forward with donations that will have a massive impact for the team at Survivors Manchester in their ambitions to expand their service and help more people.
“After seeing the man who abused me sent to prison for 5 years, I wanted to give something back to the charity that supported me throughout the trial. Ascending almost 20,000 feet was a trial of a different kind and it was genuinely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I’m glad to be back at sea level!”
Tom is now planning his next challenge as part of his ongoing commitment to working with the charity both personally and through support from The People Experts.
