Patisserie Valerie to create jobs with new Preston café
A cake shop and continental café is set to open later this month in St George’s Shopping Centre, creating 20 new jobs in Preston.
Patisserie Valerie, which was founded almost 90 years ago and now encompasses a network of over 110 cafés globally, will open the doors to its first Lancashire shop on October 22.
The national chain will occupy a 2,300 sq ft unit near the centre’s Friargate entrance.
St George’s Shopping Centre’s general manager, Andrew Stringer, said: “Welcoming Patisserie Valerie to St George’s demonstrates the centre’s ability to attract leading brands.
“Patisserie Valerie is renowned across the UK for its eye catching window displays of cakes and tasty treats which I’m sure will be popular for those with a sweet tooth.”
The flagship Preston eatery will provide a menu that includes breakfast and brunch, light meals and the brand’s range of cakes and pastries, in addition to offering celebration and wedding cakes.
The CEO of Patisserie Holdings, Paul May, commented: “We’re really excited about opening our Preston café, especially as it’s our first to open in Lancashire.
“Customers have been asking us to come to the city for a while now, and we believe St George’s Shopping Centre is the perfect place to open as it’s accessible to so many.”
He added: “We hope the people of Preston enjoy our new store.”
The first Patisserie Valerie café opened in 1926, on Frith Street in the Soho area of London.
