Miller Homes granted permission to develop 128 Sunderland homes

Sunderland City Council has given the green light Miller Homes for 128 homes to be developed at the former Shiney Row Campus, in Sunderland.

The housebuilder is hoping to start work on the infrastructure in January 2016 and have an on-site sales presence in June 2016.

Mark Bayliss, technical manager at Miller Homes, said: “We are pleased that planning permission has been granted. Our development has been well considered and will go some way towards addressing the current housing shortfall whilst enhancing the area at the same time.”

The site is situated on the site of the now redundant college buildings and will transform the derelict site as well as assist the housing shortage in the area. The development will benefit the local area socially and economically and this will be supported through S106 contributions.

The development will comprise of a mixture from two to five bed family homes. These range from detached, semi and terraced houses.

Mark added: “We look forward to starting on site in January and aim to carefully manage the works so as to create minimum disruption to the existing residents and ensure they are kept updated on our initial programme of works.”
