Danish retailer to create 14 jobs with new Preston store

A Danish retailer is set to launch in the North West next month with a new store in Preston, creating more than a dozen jobs.

Copenhagen-headquartered variety shop Tiger will open on November 26 in St George’s Shopping Centre to create 14 jobs.

The company will take up 3,000 sq ft of space on the ground floor of the centre, near the Fishergate entrance.

Andrew Stringer, the general manager of St George’s Shopping Centre, said: “Tiger is another completely new brand to St George’s and the city and we look forward to the new store opening in time for Christmas.

“It’s completely different to anything else we have in the centre and is the latest in a number of national chains which have picked Preston and St George’s for their first Lancashire store.”

He added: “The product range on offer is vast with something for everyone and I’m sure shoppers will be impressed by what they will find.”

Tiger operates 500 stores across Europe, the US and Japan, selling products such as homeware and kitchenware, toys, stationery and hobby items. It is the latest in a string of new brands to open in Preston, following cake shop Patisserie Valerie’s launch earlier this month.

Since it was established in 1995, the firm has grown to operate a network of 60 stores across the UK.
