Leeds security firm targets growth following acquisition and board restructure
Leeds-based security firm Gough & Kelly is aiming for growth this financial year, which has started with the acquisition of an intruder alarm company and the appointment of two new directors to the board.
Gough & Kelly, which has a £6m turnover, employs over 140 staff at its Leeds headquarters and provides a range of security products and services to organisations across the region, has acquired Rothwell-based Haigh Alarms.
The acquisition comes as the security firm ends a year of record sales and the appointment of two new board directors.
Directors Ian Crawford and Gavin Fearnley have joined the Gough & Kelly board to support the existing senior team and drive the firm’s growth plans.
Stephen Kelly, managing director who founded the company in 1989, said: “Both Ian and Gavin have become more and more involved in running the business over the past twelve months and I’m pleased to formally welcome them to the board, where I know they will have a very positive impact on supporting the existing team to deliver our growth plans.”
The firm is targeting a £1m increase in turnover in the next 12 months, and the Haigh Alarms acquisition is a key part of this strategy.
Stephen added: “Haigh Alarms is a well-respected local firm with a strong domestic and commercial customer base, and we’re very pleased to welcome Geoff Haigh to our team. We’ll be working together closely to ensure the smooth integration of the two companies, and I look forward to seeing this area of the business continue to grow.”
Geoff Haigh, Haigh Alarms managing director, also commented: “I know that many of our existing customers will benefit from the wider security services Gough and Kelly provides, which is why bringing the two businesses together is a great fit for our customer base. It will add strength to both of our companies, and provide plenty of scope for growth.”
Gough & Kelly provides a range of security products and services including CCTV, access control, fire and intruder alarm systems along with the full range of manned guarding activities to businesses, local authorities, sporting venues, schools, colleges and universities across Yorkshire.
