Cardinal Maritime to create 20 Wythenshawe jobs following latest acquisition

Wythenshawe-based logistics firm Cardinal Maritime has completed its acquisition of Austrian-owned property company Promoa GMBH, further expanding its presence in Greater Manchester.

The deal hands ownership of a Wythenshawe warehouse facility and 2.8 acres of development land to Cardinal Maritime, which plans to build an additional 50,000 sq ft warehouse and create 20 local jobs.

The firm has been a tenant at the existing warehouse, a 40,000 sq ft grade II-listed property on Harling Road, for the last three years, using the site as storage space.

Brian Hay, group CEO of Cardinal Maritime, said: “Growing up in Wythenshawe, I would pass the Harling Road building on the bus and I was intrigued by its Art Deco style and the history associated with it. It may sound romantic, but I am thrilled to own it now.

“Now our 38,000 sq ft head office and Harling Road facilities are at full capacity, it was vital that we looked for additional space. The 2.8 acres next to the existing building will allow us to build our third facility in the Wythenshawe area.”

He continued: “As a company we are committed to the local area and developing local talent.

“Our aim is to train and inspire the next generation of freight professionals here in Wythenshawe.”

Manchester-headquartered law firm DWF advised Cardinal Maritime on its purchase of Promoa GMBH, while HSBC’s Manchester office provided funding.
