Sheffield physio achieves top qualification
Sheffield physiotherapist, Kat Ferneyhough, has completed a course of extensive postgraduate study to become a member of the Muscoloskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).
Kat, who is a graduate of Sheffield Hallam University, works at The Physios on Beech Hill next to the Hallamshire Hospital and is one of a select number of physiotherapists in the UK to achieve MACP membership.
“My studies with the MACP have formed part of my Masters in Physiotherapy, “ says Kat. “There were a number of modules I had to complete including a clinical placement at Doncaster Bassetlaw Trust where I had to see patients, provide clinical reasoning and complete appraisals and reflection questions.
“Other modules included upper body and lower body physiotherapy where I had to study different techniques and give clinical reasoning as well as a practical exam involving full movement analysis and presentations on my findings.”
Continues Kat: “As a result of my MACP qualification, I am now more self critical and able to consider different strategies and treatment techniques that further improve examination, treatment and management for patients.
“My practical musculoskeletal knowledge has greatly increased during the course and I’ve been able to enhance my skills and share my learnings with my colleagues for the benefit of everyone who comes to the practice.”
Concludes Paul Hattam, principal physiotherapist at The Physios: “MACP membership is a fantastic achievement and Kat has worked very hard to achieve this highly regarded standard of excellence in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy – we’re all very proud of her!
“At The Physios, we never stand still when it comes to continuous professional development and learning. We are focused on remaining at the forefront of our industry through ongoing education and training because this means we can deliver the very best treatment and outcomes possible for all of our patients.”
