Harrogate company raised £7k for Saint Michael’s Hospice

A team of volunteers from ventilation company EnviroVent, based in Harrogate, raised £7k for Saint Michael’s Hospice as part of the ‘You’re Inspired’ Charity Challenge.

The Apprentice-style, fast-paced challenge involved 10 businesses from Harrogate, which also included Rudding Park, Stockeld Park, Network North and The Alexandra Pub. Each team was given a £100 loan and had 31 days to turn the amount into as much as possible with all proceeds going to Saint Michael’s Hospice.

Members of the EnviroVent team cooked bacon sandwiches for their colleagues at head office, a raffle was held with prizes donated from local Harrogate businesses, some of the more adventurous members of the team did a skydive out of a plane and with only eight days remaining, the team managed to pull off the unthinkable by organising a charity beer festival.

Matthew Insley, Deputy Accounts Manager of EnviroVent, said: “We had a meeting with The Crown Hotel who kindly offered to donate their function room for our beer festival in support of Saint Michael’s Hospice. We had a great team of volunteers who worked well together to make sure it was a huge success.”

The charity beer festival took place on Friday 30th October and rounded off a month of creative thinking and ingenuity from the volunteers at EnviroVent. With live music from Leeds based singer-songwriter, Vanessa Forero and folk acoustic duo, The Suitcase Dwellers the festival was a great success.

Adam Slinger, Marketing Team Leader at EnviroVent said: “It was a great night, we had a prosecco bar which went down really well, 18 local beers, live music throughout the night and the support from local businesses including CNG, Wrayway, EnviroVent and Screen Print Digital who all sponsored the event.”

Members of the EnviroVent team must now face ‘the board’ at an exclusive awards ceremony to be held in November, all proceeds will be counted up and confirmed by the fundraising team at Saint Michael’s Hospice before a winner is announced on the awards night.

Andy Makin, Managing Director of EnviroVent, said: “This was a real team effort, the EnviroVent team gave their valuable time and effort to help us raise £7,000 for a very worthy cause. We’ve had some great donations from local Harrogate businesses to our raffle, the individuals who jumped out of a plane for charity made a fantastic effort and everyone involved deserves a round of applause.”

EnviroVent is no newcomer when it comes to raising money for Saint Michael’s Hospice, in 2013 the company was named Best Charitable Company at the Stray FM Local Hero Awards by pulling together and going the extra mile to raise £25,000.
