Regeneration firm Places for People expands into energy sector

Regeneration company Places for People has expanded into the energy supply market with the launch of a new energy division, enlisting the help of software provider Utiligroup to support the move.

Utiligroup, which launched anew business consultancy earlier this year, assisted Preston-headquartered Places for People by providing its Supplier In A Box rapid starter kit, along with a pre-accredited energy supply licence.

Matthew Hirst, the CEO of Chorley-based Utiligroup, said: “We enjoy working alongside those with a passion for change and ability to challenge the ‘status quo’ in the energy market.

“Places for People provides a great service to many people, and its ethos, along with determination to provide even more for its tenants, made it very easy to agree to work with them.”

Nikki Goulthorp, a business development manager with Places for People, said the firm has been looking to expand into the energy market for some time.

She continued: “It’s been of the utmost importance that our partner is as determined to be as proactive and socially responsible as we are.

“Utiligroup believes in what we’re doing, which has been key in fuelling discussions, but it’s the ability to provide a service on the scale upon which we operate that has also really helped. We plan to reinvest any profits back into our business.”
