Laying the Foundations for a Brighter Future
A Peterlee-based training provider has partnered with a new venture to address the shortage of labour entering the construction industry.
Profound Services has partnered with Pro-active Training and Brickworks Ltd, to expand their Apprenticeship and Traineeship programmes across East Durham.
Pro-active Training unveiled its new Construction Academy on their open day in the Park View Industrial Estate in Hartlepool. The academy is already training in the region of 60 apprentices in bricklaying and other courses on scaffolding and general operative work will start soon.
The open day included a welcome and introduction from Director of Pro-active Training - Rob Morton, who was joined by Brickwork Services CEO - Steve Willis, and Hartlepool Councillor Kevin Cranney for the official ‘Cutting of the Ribbon’. Apprentices were also at work showcasing their bricklaying skills in the Construction Academy.
Steven Ward, Chair of Profound Services, said: “We have long had ambition to move into the construction industry and had a series of meetings with Pro-active for months about how we can come together as a partnership to bring their expertise and our expertise in training.”
He added: “We are looking forward to working with Pro-active Training and Brickwork Services at their new centre and also in our new venture in Peterlee. The development of new programmes will provide opportunities for young people in the East Durham area.”
