Britcon secures multi-million pound contracts with Lidl
Yorkshire building and civil engineering contractor, Britcon has been awarded a contract to build a new multi-million pound Lidl store in Leicester.
The budget food retailer has also appointed Britcon to deliver a major extension to its existing store in Brigg, North Lincolnshire.
The contracts follow Britcons’ completion of recent store extensions for Lidl in Coventry, Leicester, Grimsby, and Barton on Humber.
For Lidl’s fourth store in Leicester, Britcon is converting an existing retail site on Burton Street at the junction of St George’s Way and Humberstone Road. The contractor is reconfiguring three units to relocate an existing Staples store on the site and provide a new purpose designed 20,000 sq. ft store for Lidl.
Britcon will provide a new roof, new entrance, and modern external cladding works with curtain wall glazing. The scheme will also include new mezzanine levels within a complete internal fit out and deliver new external parking facilities with landscaping on the site.
Britcon expects to complete the project in just 28 weeks for Lidl.
In Brigg, Britcon is providing a 2,000 sq. ft extension to the Lidl store on Atherton Way to provide a new bakery. Works starts next week with a twelve week programme.
Paul Clarkson, managing director at Britcon said: “We are delighted that our previous work has inspired further contracts and a trusting relationship with Lidl moving forward. This brings our total number of projects for Lidl to six in the last 12 months and we are tendering for xx more opportunities in the pipeline. Our solutions driven approach and ability to deliver holistic services from one resource has proved reassuring for the team at Lidl as it seeks to drive its rapid expansion programme.”
