APMG awarded position on G-Cloud 7
Accreditation and certification body APMG International has secured a position on G-Cloud 7, the latest iteration of the Government’s cloud services procurement framework. As a provider on the framework, the company will be offering its Cyber Defence Capability Assessment Tool (CDCAT) on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) basis, making it easier for public sector bodies to refine their cyber security strategies.
Formally launched earlier this year, and developed by Dstl and Ploughshare Innovations, CDCAT is a dynamic assessment tool that provides a methodology and scoring system for cyber defence preparedness. The tool draws significantly on military, government and industry controls to consolidate the most effective cyber security practices and provide a detailed roadmap on how to improve an organisation’s cyber security.
CDCAT makes the complex world of cyber security more accessible and easier to understand, shifting the discussion away from technology and towards management and business practices. The tool enables organisations to assess their level of cyber security maturity directly in relation to their risk appetite, from which point they can develop their risk mitigation strategies.
Richard Pharro, CEO of APMG, said: “Data security is a concern for every organisation. Organisations have a duty of care for the data that they handle, so it’s critical that they have a full grasp of the cyber threats they face and can develop holistic strategies to counter them. That is precisely what CDCAT can help with. Comprehensive and built on proven best practice, CDCAT facilitates management in the decision-making process around cyber security and enables organisations to proactively prepare for the ever-changing threat landscape.
“Since we launched the tool a wide range of public sector organisations, from both local and central government, have been assessed so we are very pleased that CDCAT has been accepted on to G-Cloud. Achieving our position on the framework makes it significantly easier for public sector organisations to procure and access CDCAT, and therefore enhance their cyber defence strategies,” Pharro concluded.
