Maidenhead school receive £1k donation
Pupils at a Maidenhead school are jumping for joy after receiving a donation from a leading UK housebuilder to improve their playground.
Furze Platt Infant School was selected as one of Persimmon Homes North London’s Community Champions, a scheme that awards £1,000 to further the charity’s work within the community. The project sees a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities.
Marjorie Clementson, head teacher at Furze Platt, said: “Our school has limited outdoor space for our 270 pupils so the contribution from Persimmon Homes North London’s Community Champions scheme offers us a big step forward in improving our playground and log park facilities.
“This will allow us to provide physical activity all year round, giving pupils more opportunities to get involved with sporting activities.”
Greg Kaye, head of sales at Persimmon Homes North London, said: “We are delighted to select Furze Platt as the latest beneficiaries of our Community Champions initiative.
“Our donation will help the school improve their playground and in turn, get more of their pupils involved in physical education.
“Persimmon Homes North London has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a tricky task to pick our winners each month.
“If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
Community Champions is a year-long programme with £750,000 to be spread across the housebuilder’s 25 regions. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise funds themselves can apply for match funding of up to £1,000.
