Business Growth Hub partners with Greater Manchester councils to offer flood relief

The Business Growth Hub has teamed up with a number of councils across Greater Manchester to provide relief for businesses in the areas hit badly in the recent floods.

While the local authorities are offering relief from business rates and some financial support, the Business Growth Hub, which is part of the economic development organisation Manchester Growth Company, has advisors providing support and guidance.

Additionally, the organisation is making up to £10k available for eligible businesses through the government’s Disaster Recovery Funds, potentially allowing firms in the worst hit areas to get back up and running.

Greater Manchester’s interim Mayor, Tony Lloyd, said: “The recent flooding in Greater Manchester devastated businesses across the region.

“This programme offers both financial support and expert advice and I encourage all firms affected to come forward to benefit from it.”

He added: “One of our region’s strengths is its resilience and it’s fantastic to see the Business Growth Hub working with local authorities to help rebuild and protect people’s livelihoods.”

The Hub’s partnerships include agreements with authorities in Bolton, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Bury and Wigan.

Commenting on the agreement, Business Growth Hub director Richard Jeffery called SMEs the “lifeblood of the Greater Manchester economy”.

Richard continued: “It is imperative that we, working alongside the local authorities, are able to provide support to help local firms get back to business as usual.

“We are here to help companies tackle the challenges they face, offering vital business advice as well as much-needed practical assistance to recover from the damage caused by the recent floods.”
