Barclays to create 300 Liverpool jobs following £15m investment
A major transformation of Barclays’ contact centre in Wavertree Technology Park, Liverpool, will lead to the creation of 300 new jobs.
The bank made the announcement today (Wednesday 20) as it revealed the result of a £15m investment programme at the flagship site.
Some of the new roles are being created due to the rollout Barclays’ 24-hour video banking service, which gives customers the option of speaking face-to-face with advisors using their smartphones, tablets or computers.
The director of Barclays Contact Centres, Simon Separghan, said: “The new opportunities are available for both existing colleagues and those looking to start their career with Barclays.
“We are hugely excited to be able to offer a whole range of career opportunities across our Liverpool centre.
He continued: “A full range of roles have been created from management to customer facing positions.
“Applicants do not need to have previous contact centre or financial services experience just a passion for creating outstanding customer outcomes and the right values for Barclays as a business.”
Speaking at the revamped facility’s launch event, Liverpool Wavertree MP Luciana Berger said the £15m investment is a “major vote of confidence” both in Wavertree and the wider city area.
She added: “It is one of a number of important economic investments in the city over the coming months and years. Liverpool Wavertree is very much open for business.”
