Creative agency Recursive Media makes Ashford move

Multimedia company Recursive Media has made the jump from Brighton and moved its operations to Ashford, Kent.

The move allows the business, which also provides audio-visual and acoustics projects, to be closer to London in order to better serve its clients there.

Since it was formed in 2012, the newly Ashford-based agency has worked with a number of high-profile clients, including the Royal Society of Arts, Harrods and the Dubai Mall.

On the move, Chief Executive Officer, David Yates, said: “When international clients set up project teams to manage big projects they invariably base them in London.

“Our industry is very London-centric so you need to be in easy reach if you want to be taken seriously as a supplier. It would be hard to persuade them to use us if we were difficult to reach but now we’re just 38 minutes away by fast train.”

For now, the five-strong company has based its operations in Ashford’s Park Mall, but it is already eyeing up a spot in the town’s Commercial Quarter which is scheduled to begin construction in the Spring.

Commenting on the current site and the proposed new Commercial Quarter, David added: “Park Mall is a good creative space for our business. In Brighton, in addition to the rents being high we were mixed in with lots of businesses that weren’t the same as ours and ultimately we were also compromised by the location.

“We employ a freelance workforce from all over the UK, so a base only 38 minutes from St Pancras is very attractive indeed.

“What sealed the deal for us was the unwavering enthusiasm and warm welcome of the council and its ambition to develop a dynamic new business hub with a meaningful digi-tech and creative industry presence in the Commercial Quarter next to the station. This is well thought through and we want to be part of that from the very beginning.”
