Fresh Insights: Greggs Marketing Challenge 2016
Students studying in the North East will be going head to head in February 2016 to win the opportunity to spend a day on placement with the Greggs marketing team.
Now in its fourth year, the Greggs Marketing Challenge will see students studying Marketing at Newcastle, Northumbria, Teesside and Sunderland Universities competing to convince a panel of marketing experts that they have what it takes to help the food-on-the-go retailer stay ahead in a competitive market place. The winning team will spend a day at Greggs’ head office in Newcastle.
The students will present their ideas on ‘How does the Greggs brand remain relevant across key consumer life stages?’ at an event at Newcastle University Business School on Wednesday 24 February in front of an audience of regional businesses, academics and fellow students.
Presentations will be judged by Roger Whiteside, Chief Executive of Greggs; Malcolm Copland, Commercial Director of Greggs; Gordon Bethell, Managing Partner at Creative Race and Graeme Nash, Head of Customer and Marketing at Greggs.
Roger Whiteside and James Ramsbotham, CEO of the North East Chamber of Commerce, will also speak at the event on the value that graduates add to business.
Anna Tilba, Director of Corporate Engagement at Newcastle University Business School, said: “We are delighted that Greggs is continuing to recognise the wealth of talent and initiative the region’s students have to offer.
“All those who participate in the Marketing Challenge will have a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and business acumen in front of regional business leaders and marketers, while the winning students will benefit from real-world experience that will help set them above others when applying for jobs after graduation.”
Graeme Nash, Head of Customer and Marketing at Greggs said: “Over the three years we have been running the Marketing Challenge we have been hugely impressed by the calibre of work and enthusiasm that the students have brought to their projects, and I’m looking forward to seeing the innovative ideas they come up with this year.
“As a company we recognise the skills, passion and professionalism that graduates bring to their jobs. We have a number of graduates working with us currently and our dedicated programme provides them with opportunities to work across the firm, supported by senior leaders, and develop a range of experience that will stand them in good stead to progress throughout their careers.”
The Greggs Marketing Challenge event is being held on Wednesday 24 February with registration from 17.00 at Newcastle University Business School on Barrack Road. Book your place online.
