Housebuilder’s Hexham development to create 250 new jobs
David Wilson Homes North East is investing £698k into the Hexham economy ahead of the launch of its Woodlands Rise development later this year.
The housebuilder revealed that which will also support up to 250 jobs, which will include a combination of direct construction jobs and sub contractors for the development.
Woodland Rise will feature 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes bringing 122 homes to the outskirts of the Hexham region, with £312k allocated to provide affordable housing in the area.
The development of the land also includes investment in the local community, with £183,000 earmarked to provide and maintain on-site public open space and £178,088 for local sports facilities.
Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes North East, said: “We’re committed to investing in the areas around our new developments, and ensuring that they meet approval from the community as well as addressing local housing needs.
“We have so far held several meetings and a public consultation event in the local community to ensure our plans meet local needs, and will endeavor to continue to support the communities in which we develop.
“Hexham is a fantastic area, and these 122 homes will ensure that future generations will be able to call this semi rural location home.”
He added: “Not only this, but with significant investment into the local area in the form of up to 250 new jobs and the improvement of local facilities, the development of our new site is set to have positive and far reaching implications on the larger community in Hexham.”
In September last year the firm reported that sales of its properties across Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Durham and Sunderland, increased by 37% when compared to its previous financial year.
