Oldham contractor Medlock awarded holiday destination projects worth £1.25m

Oldham-based contractor Medlock FRB is set to expand its presence in the leisure sector after securing two holiday destination contracts worth £1.25m.

The firm has begun extending and refurbishing a bar and restaurant at Langdale Hotel & Spa in the Lake District, near Ambleside.

Due for completion by the end of February, the project comprises a new kitchen and two-level extension, along with a refurbished bar, wine room and pizza oven area with furniture custom built in Medlock’s joinery workshop.

The work at Langdale also includes mechanical and electrical improvements.

Medlock is likewise refurbishing the Mash and Barrel, a bar and restaurant at the Reighton Sands Haven holiday park in North Yorkshire.

External works at the site include a new sun terrace, smoking shelter and stage, while internally, Medlock is revamping the décor and providing fixed seating and screens.

As with the Ambleside project, the Mash and Barrel work is expected to finish this month.

The managing director at Medlock FRB, Andy Dunster, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bourne Leisure again and to be appointed by the owners of the Langdale Estate to carry out work at one of the finest hotels in the Lake District.

“These contracts build on our experience in the holiday market, where we have an excellent track record for quality and speed and a clear understanding of our clients’ needs.”

He continued: “Operators are continuing to invest heavily in their sites as the trend for people to take holidays and short breaks in the UK continues, and these contracts demonstrate our ability to successfully combine new-build and refurbishment works at locations throughout the UK.”
