Liverpool company launches $50k Kickstarter bid for Emily Dickinson documentary
Hurricane Films, the Liverpool-based film production firm, has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to complete a documentary about American poet Emily Dickinson.
With just days until the company’s biographical drama about Dickinson’s life, A Quiet Passion, premieres at the Berlin Film Festival, the producers are looking to secure $50k (around £35k) to complete the feature’s companion documentary.
Titled Phosphorescence, the documentary film will chronicle the poet’s life and feature interviews with filmmaker Terence Davies, the mind behind A Quiet Passion, as well as the film’s lead actress Cynthia Nixon and various Dickinson experts.
Hurricane Films has already secured some private funding, with filming underway in New York and Massachusetts, but hopes to complete the post-production process through its crowdfunding campaign.
A Quiet Passion is set to premiere this Sunday (February 14).
