West Yorkshire’s Filtronic secures $1.9m US communications contract
West Yorkshire’s Filtronic plc, the designer and manufacturer of microwave electronics products for the wireless telecoms infrastructure market and adjacent markets, has received a signficant order to develop core elements within long range, E-Band communication systems.
The order from a major US multinational company covers the design, development and delivery of prototype communication sub-systems to enable ultra-high capacity transmission of telecommunications data over a 20km range using E-Band frequencies.
This project will be centred on Filtronic’s “Orpheus” transceiver technology.
The contract, worth approximately $1.9m, is structured on incremental development milestones.
Filtronic, based in Yeadon, expects to complete development milestones equivalent to approximately 50% of the total contract value in the current financial year to 31 May 2016 with the balance in the subsequent year.
Rob Smith, CEO of Filtronic plc, commented: “We are delighted to have been chosen to work on this challenging and prestigious project.
“It is a terrific endorsement of our engineering capability and underscores our position as the leading player in the E-Band transceiver market.”
