Narrative plots next chapter for charity
A FULL SERVICE marketing and communications agency in Sunderland has plotted its next chapter for charity by donating a range of books to St Oswald’s Hospice.
Narrative Integrated Communications has donated the literature, including autobiographies, children’s picture books and fictional novels, to the hospice’s specialist bookshops in Whitley Bay and Gosforth as part of an ongoing commitment to support the charity.
St Oswald’s Hospice provides specialist care for North East adults, young people and children with incurable conditions. No charge is made to patients for the services provided, ensuring expert, dignified and compassionate care is available to all.
The charity has 26 shops across the North East which sell a range of good quality, second hand items such as clothing, toys, furniture and electrical goods. St Oswald’s specialist bookshops in Whitley Bay and Gosforth stock books of all genres, DVDs, CDs, records/vinyls and retro-style new goods. All profits from the sale of items in their shops helps them to care for North East families at a time when they need it most.
Aimee Muirhead, Digital Account Manager at Narrative, who facilitated the book drive with the 15-strong team, said: “We’re a team of book lovers but over the years we’ve each come to hoard an impressive collection which we realise won’t ever be read again. Keeping with the Narrative theme, we wanted to donate our books to a worthy cause such as St Oswald’s Hospice and we loved the idea of a specialist charity book store.
“The donation is part of ongoing commitment to support the charity throughout the year.”
Andrew Moir, Head of Retail at St Oswald’s Hospice, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Narrative for organising the collection and to everyone who donated books. All profits from the sale of the each item will help fund expert, dignified and compassionate care to children, young people and adults across the North East with incurable conditions.
“St Oswald’s need to raise over £7million each year to provide their services and every donation to our shops helps.”
