Bolton Wanderers agree £7.5m takeover deal
Bolton Wanderers have signed a seven-figure takeover deal with a group led by former Trotters striker Dean Holdsworth.
The £7.5m agreement with the Sport Shield consortium follows a High Court decision granted today (February 22) that gives Bolton until March 7 to settle an unpaid tax bill.
The BBC has reported that the paperwork for the deal was signed just minutes before club bosses appeared at the court hearing.
In a statement on the agreement, the advisor to the club board, Trevor Birch, said: “While this continues to be a challenging time for everyone associated with the club, we are confident that this adjournment will give us the necessary time to conclude a transfer of ownership of the club, subject to approval from the Football League.”
The agreement follows another announced last week that saw Bolton’s Euxton training ground sold to Wigan Athletic.
